A Day In My Own Private Idaho
by Alain Verret
Sometimes I just have to get away from it all, disconnect, dissociate and part momentarily from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
My getaways are my home, only in a different place, and they are filled with what I daydream about. I inevitably find myself escaping to visually pleasing environments where I can simply “be” my personal story while keeping myself wrapped in a strong feeling of timeless bliss.
Surrounded by the aroma of fresh brewed coffee in the morning, I am free to let my mind wander away for hours as I go through my stack of favorite books, fall for my favorite song …yet again, witness inspiration during an afternoon walk, then linger in the hot tub as I watch the sun go down.
In the end, it truly doesn’t matter whether I hop on a private helicopter and fly over a mountain ridge or ride my vintage motorcycle to the next town with my hair freely floating in the wind, it is all about the experience and the mood in which I surround myself that is important.
This inspiring, liberated state of mind then becomes my creative sanctuary, a reflection of my style, “My Own Private Idaho.”
