BENJAMIN MOORE MAKES COLOR SELECTION EASIER WITH NIFTY ON-THE-GO TOOLS
Benjamin Moore’s view on color is that “the world is your oyster.” The esteemed paint company and Kravet ally, offers more than 3,300 hues. In addition, Benjamin Moore can custom color match, which means there’s literally no limit. Shades of white alone account for more than 140 in the palette, including, of course, Oyster 2115-70.
While choosing color is a fun and fundamental part of the design process, it also can be a daunting challenge. Leave it to Benjamin Moore to provide you with some very useful tech-savvy tools.
The Pocket Palette®, for instance is a time-saving, valuable asset that can be used for identifying a color “find” and matching it to a Benjamin Moore color. Whether your inspiration is on a wall, a textile, a wardrobe favorite or even a piece of art, all you need do is place the Pocket Palette flat on the surface of the color that attracts you, and, with one click of a button, the “eye” of this hightech digital device reads it, providing the closest match to a Benjamin Moore paint color and storing it for future use. When reading complex patterns Pocket Palette will provide an average of all colors combined. The Pocket Palette’s memory can hold up to 20 colors at a time, making it ideal for specifying color while on job sites. Not much bigger than a hairbrush, it qualifies as one of the most powerful weapons in the professional’s arsenal of color tools; $299 from http://www.benjaminmoore.com.
The hottest addition causing a buzz is a free iPhone app, ben® Color Capture™. With the tap of a key, this application lets you snap a picture of any color inspiration, anywhere in the world, and instantly match it to a Benjamin Moore paint color. It also allows you to save your favorites for instant color coordination and comparison. What’s more, the new ben® app can access the iPhone’s GPS system, locating the Benjamin Moore retailer nearest to wherever the user is at that very moment.
The ben® app is intuitive and easy-to-use. Simply glide a finger across the digital photo taken with the iPhone’s built-in camera, zoom into a color, and tap the “match” key. In just seconds, a strip of colors will appear below the photo, with the closest paint match highlighted. A simple shake of the phone and ben® will provide up to four coordinating colors, creating an entire harmonizing palette based on the original selection. Favorites can be saved and enlarged to the size of the iPhone screen for easier viewing. There’s access, as well, to the full spectrum color wheel, which expands or contracts by fingertip control to focus on a color preference. That, too, can be translated into a Benjamin Moore color and saved as a favorite for future reference. It can be downloaded by visiting the AppStore website, http://www.appshopper.com/lifestyle/ben-color-capture.
