Kravet Acquires Prestigious Fabric House Brunschwig & Fils

Kravet Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Brunschwig & Fils, the renowned fabric and furnishings company best known for its prestigious French heritage and iconic prints and designs.

With a rich history dating back to 1900, Brunschwig & Fils has a history of service, a legacy of design, exceptional quality, attention to detail and superb craftsmanship. Achille Brunschwig established Brunschwig & Fils as a tapestry-weaving mill in Aubusson and Bohain, France. Early in the 20th century, the firm expanded its collection to include printed and woven silks and cottons from the finest European mills.

Many of the designs in today’s collections date back to the early 1940s,  while still others are more than 200 years old. Hand-woven Louis XV ecru silk brocade is woven in the same Lyon atelier that produced fabrics for the restoration of the Chateau de Versailles. Brocades, lampas and velvets woven for Louis XIV are produced today on the very same looms as the originals in the 18th century.

Kravet plans to maintain the integrity of the brand and continue to market and distribute the brand name and products to the interior design community.  With the assistance of our product development merchandisers and the exceptional service and sales of the Kravet Inc. organization, the goal is to continue distributing these decorative products in the existing channels of distribution with additional growth through the development of new relationships.

“We must infuse a corporate culture of exceeding our customers’ expectations,”  said Cary Kravet, President of Kravet Inc. “This means making your job pleasant and easy from the time you cross the threshold of our showrooms or our website to the time our products are in your clients’  homes.”

Kravet will spend the next few months transitioning to the new ownership, reestablishing inventory levels, developing new products,  improving operations and, most importantly, working diligently to please the existing Brunschwig & Fils customers.
