Assouline Opens Two Flagship Stores
Assouline opened two new flagship stores in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, further expanding the cultural reach of the brand. Known primarily as a book publisher, Assouline has evolved over the years into a worldwide luxury goods brand.
The Los Angeles store is styled after a Parisian townhouse, bringing European flair to the west coast. Assouline partnered with Joe Pytka’s Bastide to offer gourmet dining and cocktails as well, making it a cultural destination in the heart of Hollywood. In addition to the wealth of books and luxury gift items, the store features custom furnishings and lavishly decorated libraries, salons and terraces.
The Las Vegas store, personally designed by Prosper Assouline, contains more than 25,000 volumes as well as the most expansive collection of Assouline books and luxury items in the world. Additional treasures include the French luxury brand’s largest selection of special editions and collectors’ items, enclosed in a space with décor curated in the spirit of a contemporary luxury library.
The stores are located on Melrose Place in Los Angeles and at Crystals in the CityCenter shopping district in Las Vegas. For more information, please visit http://www.assouline.com .
Promises, Promises
This revival of the 1968 musical by the same name is based on Billy Wilder’s 1960 film “The Apartment.” The play stars Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth, and features the music of Burt Bacarach.
Sean Hayes, in his Broadway debut, plays Chuck Baxter, an employee at a Manhattan insurance company. In an effort to get ahead at work, he begins lending his apartment to married men in need of trysting places, including the head of the company who, it turns out, is having an affair with the object of Chuck’s romantic fantasies, the adorable Fran Kubelik, played by Kristin Chenoweth.
The show’s musical numbers are colorful and fun, as are the 60’s-era costumes. Promises, Promises, which has been nominated for Tony awards in four categories, is now showing at the Broadway Theater in New York City.
