Inspired by Color

By Scott Kravet

Whether you are a mountain, beach or inland traveler, everywhere you go you can find color that inspires you.

Seeing nature bursting with bright yellow greens in summer and magenta and burgundy in fall always inspires. Franconia Notch in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in October displays nature in its full glory.

Anything can catch your eye as you make your way through the back roads of Santa Fe where light is completely different. Spending some time in the Petrified Forest where the trees become stone will inspire you into a natural metamorphose. As you continue your way through Sedona at dusk, notice the way the sun hits the rock on the plateau and you will think you are on another planet.

Water also has the power to inspire, whether off the coast of Avalon Beach in South Jersey, Cooper’s Beach in the Hamptons or Sea Island, Georgia, it depends on the different seasons and the time of day, the water looks deep blue to marine green.

We bring all of these inspirations into our textile world: the bold color combinations brought together by nature, the subtle change in hues in the sky as the sun sets, the play of textures in a field or in the surf. While our experience of color and the world around us is deeply personal, at Kravet our goal is to share our inspirations with you.
