The beloved Parisian macaroon shop and café, Maison Ladurée, opened its first United States location on New York City’s Upper East Side this fall. Located on Madison Avenue, the shop is a welcome treat for New Yorkers who make the original Paris location a must-visit on trips to Europe.
The café is best known for its signature pastry, the macaroon. These small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle, are made every morning in Ladurée’s “laboratory.”
Pastry chefs measure out precisely the required amounts of almonds, eggs and sugar. Once cooked and filled, the macaroons are put to one side for two days before going on sale, the time it takes to achieve a perfect balance between texture and flavor.
Ladurée created all of the desserts for the film Marie Antoinette and is a favorite of Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf, ensuring its success in New York City’s toniest neighborhood. Maison Ladurée is located at 864 Madison Avenue.
That is everything, that’s final and that’s that.
